Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) features
IEX connects webshops with warehouse management systems and logistics partners, creating an automated and seamless order flow from sale to picking, packing, and shipping. The article describes the key integration features that support collaboration between webshop and warehouse, as well as how data flows between the systems.
The typical flow is that an order is created in the webshop and – when it reaches a certain stage (e.g., “processing”) – is automatically sent to the warehouse management system. Here, picking and packing are handled, inventory is adjusted, and once the order has been completed, a status update (fulfillment) is sent back to the webshop.
The integration makes it possible to:
Order transfer from webshop to warehouse
- Receive orders in the warehouse management system: With the integration, orders can be sent from the webshop to warehouse management systems for order processing and inventory management. The transfer includes customer data and order lines, ensuring consistent handling of sales data across systems.
Inventory management and stock updates
- Send inventory / stock amounts: With the integration, stock levels can be managed and sent from the warehouse to the webshop, including both physical stock and available quantities. Internally in the warehouse management system, inventory is deducted when an order received from the webshop is processed.
Fulfillment and status return to the webshop
- Send fulfillment: With the integration, a confirmation can be sent from the warehouse to the webshop to update the order stage once the order has been completed. This is used when the order needs to move to the next stage, where a payment capture must be performed, or when the order needs to be posted/booked in the next stage.
With an integration between webshop and warehouse management system via IEX, the entire flow from order to fulfillment is automated. This reduces manual processes, minimizes errors in inventory and order status, and ensures that both customers and internal staff always work with up-to-date data. The result is a more efficient logistics process, improved inventory management, and a stronger customer experience.
