POS system features

The article describes features for: Ajour POS, DdD, EasyPOS, FlexPOS, PayPal Point of Sale (tidligere Zettle), ScanPOS, Shopify POS

IEX connects webshops and POS systems and ensures a seamless flow between online and in-store sales. The purpose is to prevent overselling and ensure that inventory is always updated across systems. This article describes how the integration supports order transfer, inventory management, and product synchronization between the webshop and the POS system.

The typical flow is that an order is created in the webshop and automatically transferred to the POS system. The order reduces inventory in the relevant systems, ensuring that the same item cannot be sold simultaneously in the physical store. The POS system acts as the inventory-controlling system, and inventory levels are continuously sent back to the webshop. This is particularly beneficial during stock purchases and stock counts, and generally helps keep the webshop fully synchronized with actual inventory levels.

The integration makes it possible to:

Order transfer from webshop to POS

  • Receive orders in POS: With the integration, orders can be sent from the webshop to inventory systems in order to reduce stock levels on the sold items.

This ensures that inventory is reserved or reduced immediately when an item is sold online, minimizing the risk of double sales or overselling between the webshop and the physical store.

Inventory management and stock updates

  • Send inventory levels: With the integration, inventory levels can be managed and sent from the POS system to the webshop.

When inventory is updated in the POS system – for example during goods receipt, stock counting, or in-store sales – the updated stock levels are sent to the webshop. This ensures that the webshop always reflects accurate stock availability.

Product synchronization

  • Send products: With the integration, products can be sent from the webshop to connected systems – also independently of an order. The transfer includes item number/SKU, name, and price. Product variants are supported for most systems.

This makes it possible to maintain consistent product data across the webshop and POS system and reduces the need for duplicate product maintenance.

Overall business value

With an integration between the webshop and POS via IEX, a unified and up-to-date inventory flow is created across sales channels. Online and in-store sales impact the same inventory foundation, reducing the risk of overselling and manual corrections. At the same time, both inventory levels and product data remain synchronized, resulting in more efficient operations and an improved customer experience.
